Chase is more than striking good looks... this gentleman is extremely outgoing and affectionate. He loves talking to his humans, as well as warming their laps! If you're looking for a dog-like cat, he's your guy!

Chase is a toothless wonder, and his lack of teeth was a head scratcher for the vets at the shelter. One vet felt he was just a couple of years old based upon his condition (other than his teeth), while another assumed he was over 8 years old simply due to his lack of teeth. The last vet who examined him split the difference and is fairly certain this sweet boy lost his teeth prematurely due to feline tooth resorption and is about 5 years old. While painful, tooth resorption is fairly common in cats, though the cause is unknown and it's a mystery as to why Chase has lost so many teeth to this.

But he doesn't let his lack of teeth hold him back! He can even eat hard food, and actually seems to prefer it. You'd never know he is missing his teeth.

Chase gets along with other cats (with proper introduction) and gentle dogs and children. The shelter staff report that he’s very affectionate.

Please note that cats adopted through DC PAWS must be indoor only, and may not be declawed.

If you are interested in adopting Chase, please submit an adoption application at https://dcpawsrescue.org/adoption-info/adoption-application-cats/.DC PAWS Rescue does our best to provide accurate and complete information about our adoptable animals. Please note that we cannot make any guarantees about age or breed; we rely upon our rescue partners and their veterinarians to make those assessments. We also cannot make any guarantees about housebreaking and animal temperament, as animals can behave differently through transition and in different environments.

Our shelter partners provide a basic vet screening for each animal we rescue, which includes necessary vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and spay/neuter (unless the animal is too young or otherwise deemed by the vet to not be a good candidate for surgery). Please note that this is not a comprehensive medical exam and as such, may not identify any and all medical issues, though our goal is to flag any obvious health issues through the basic vet screening. We share all medical records with adopters and flag any known issues prior to adoption finalization.
